EAA expecting one-year EBU renewal

The European Athletics Association (EAA) may have to settle for a one-year extension to its media rights deal with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the consortium of public-service broadcasters, rather than the four-year deal it had hoped for.
A new one-year deal would cover the European Championships in 2012. The EBU would also have preferred a longer deal but has not been prepared to meet the association’s fee demands, although the body last week said it has not been pushing for a “big increase” in rights fee.
