Uefa talks for Euro 2012 deal in UK deadlocked

Uefa’s negotiations for a Euro 2012 television rights deal in the UK are deadlocked as free-to-air broadcasters the BBC and ITV are refusing to pay more than they did for Euro 2008, UK newspaper the Daily Mail reports.
Uefa, European football’s governing body, is blocked from offering the rights to pay-television broadcasters as the whole event is covered by listed events legislation.

Uefa wants an increase on the £52 million paid jointly by the BBC and ITV for Euro 2008, in a deal brokered by the Sportfive agency. The federation is selling the rights itself this time.
